Research Notes on Seropositive Rheumatoid Arthritis


Seropositive rheumatoid arthritis is a type of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RA is a systemic autoimmune disorder that affects the joints.1 Rheumatoid factor blood test and anti-CCP are diagnostic tests used to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis. When the tests are positive, the patient is classified with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis.2

  • Rheumatoid arthritis is found in approximately 1 to 2 percent of healthy people.3
  • A positive rheumatoid factor test occurs in approximately 80 percent of patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.4
  • Studies have shown seropositive patients have more severe joint deformities than those with seronegative RA.2
