These worms migrate from the intestines and deposit eggs on the anus while an infected person is asleep. The eggs can then be passed by direct and indirect contact through sharing things like toys, pencils, and food. Eggs can also be deposited on toilet seats, carpets, dust, and dirt. Pinworms are also called threadworms and come from the roundworm called Eenterobius vermicularis.
