Urethral Sphincter

The internal sphincter prevents urine from leaving the bladder to enter the urethra. The external sphincter provides support for the contents of the pelvis.

Ureter

The ureter is tube that carries urine down from the kidney to the bladder. Normally, there is a single ureter draining the urine from each kidney to the bladder. The urine is then stored in the bladder until one voluntarily urinates. Occasionally, there may be two ureters draining a single kidney. One ureter drains the upper part of the kidney and the second ureter drains the lower portion.
