Virus Linked to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

A new study has revealed that around two-thirds of people who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome are infected with a retrovirus called xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus, or XMRV. This virus has also been linked to prostate cancer. The study is published in the October 2009 online edition of Science Express.

Although many medications may be safely used together, some medications can interact in such a fashion that negative health consequences can occur. MAOIs, certain antibiotics, and some medications containing estrogen can all have negative interactions with Provigil. Patients are encouraged to disclose all medications they may be taking before adding additional medications to a treatment regimen in order to avoid potentially harmful interactions.

Some antidepressants such as amitriptyline, doxepin, imipramine, and nortriptyline can negatively interact with Provigil.
