For New Guides! - Welcome Aboard!

Have a simple question about OrganizedWisdom? How about becoming a Guide? Or what's a Guide even!?

For New Guides! - Welcome Aboard!

I just wanted to take a quick second to say hello, and welcome to the OW team! You'll find that if you stick with it, OW can be the best job you've ever had - especially one working from home. We've all been "new" at some point, and to be totally honest, we've all felt completely overwhelmed when we first started. However, just because you may stare at your profile and it doesn't seem that you have any "friends" to turn to for help, all you have to do is make a quick friend request. Although I haven't spoken to all the other guides who have been with the company for a while, I'm sure everyone is as willing to help you learn the ropes as I am. Should you ever have any questions, or something just isn't working for you, please don't pull your hair out over it, just ask for help. Of course, you can also ask one of the Full Time OW employees for help, but know that the rest of us "part-timers" are willing to help you as well. Good luck, I wish you tons of success, and again, if you need any help, please feel free to contact me.

Any other guides who have been with the company for a while, and feel as if they may be able to offer some help to a new guide, please feel free to extend an invitation to them here as well. I just thought it would be nice for some of the newer guides to know they can get help from others on the "same level" as well as the full time staff! :)

I just wanted to take the opportunity to also welcome all of the newbies to OW. OW is a wonderful organization filled with a lot of supportive people. Susan did an exceptional job of summing up OW and the people who are a part of it. As she stated, we are all here to answer any questions you may have. I look forward to getting to know each of you. Please feel free to contact me as well if you need any assistance. Welcome aboard!

I also am here to welcome all the new guides. I have worked with OW since 2008 and have loved every minute of it. I know at first it can be discouraging trying to get it all down pat, but once you do there's nothing too it. If there is anything I can do to help, feel free to contact me as well. With OW there is a wonderful amount of support here. Again welcome and good luck! :-)

I ditto what the other fellow OW'ers have said above! Welcome to OW! One thing I can bring to the table is that you will not find a job more rewarding than being a part-time guide. :D

Hi everyone,

I am a new guide from South Carolina and have a couple of questions that I hope someone will be able to answer. I have just finished my 15th WC and from what I read will have to get to 50 before the physician review panel will decide whether I can become certified. In the meantime, I know my new best bud Nicole is reviewing my WCs for proper formatting, interlinking, etc but is anyone checking for medical accuracy or does that only happen during the physician review? Obviously I am researching the sites and using data gained from actual medical sites to put together my research notes but was just curious about whether it was being checked.

Secondly, about how long should I expect it to take to complete 50 WC? I have been working for about three weeks and only have 15 submitted and reviewed so is this a normal?

Hi Irish!

I can't refer to you by your actual name because you haven't given it! But, I can still help answer your question.
Yes, the content on your cards will be reviewed, but this is one of the reason why using HONcode sites is so important. It makes the information so much more likely to be credible and decreases the need to edit the card on the reviewer's end. I'm sure you're doing fine though, or you'd have heard about it. ;)

Regarding how long it takes to complete the cards is a very individual thing. The entire process flows smoother once you have gotten into a groove of writing the cards. It becomes easier to spot the reputable sites (especially with the additional sites that Julie mentioned in her training call), and you become more comfortable with the more work you do. Speed comes with time, but just remember to never sacrifice accuracy for the sake of speed. ;)

Good luck, and welcome aboard. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know! :)

Hi Susan,

Thanks so much for the information. I thought the conference call yesterday was very helpful for understanding where to go for quality information. I definitely plan to utilize Omni and will be checking for HON designations in the future.

Regards,
Jeri
