Research Notes on Zanaflex for Multiple Sclerosis
Zanaflex is a brand name medication that is used to treat muscle spasticity in patients with multiple sclerosis. Zanaflex works by reducing muscle spasms, allowing patients to feel less pain and enjoy greater mobility. Because Zanaflex is a short-acting medication, patients are advised to only use Zanaflex during times when relief is most important.1
Fast Facts:
- Zanaflex's effectiveness peaks one to two hours after the medication is taken, and benefits are gone within three to six hours.2
- Zanaflex may also be prescribed to patients who suffer from spinal cord injuries.2
- Zanaflex is a brand name of the generic medication tizanidine.2
