Research Notes on World AIDS Day
Since 1988, December 1st has been designated World AIDS Day. It is an opportunity to raise awareness about the disease and to educate people- young and old- about how to protect themselves.
Fast Facts
- Approximately 33 million people worldwide live with HIV.1
- Between 70 and 90 percent of infected people experience symptoms within a few days.1
- Each year, World AIDS Day has a different sub-theme, with the main theme being "Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise" until the year 2010.2
