Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is a deciduous tree or shrub native to Atlantic North America, which is also now being cultivated in Europe and Asia. A versatile remedy, it is employed in various therapies, ranging from facial care to soothing aching feet. Witch hazel is applied to treat hemorrhoids, inflammation of the mouth and throat, and other conditions, such as varicose veins, wounds, and burns.
