A diet consisting of whole grain foods is associated with a lowered risk of developing heart disease or having a stroke. A whole grain means the entire grain seed (the bran, endosperm and germ) is retained in food production. The germ and bran are high in fiber, antioxidants, healthy fats, and numerous vitamins.
