Research Notes on Who Discovered Crohn's Disease
Crohn's disease was discovered by Dr. Burrill B. Crohn, Dr. Leon Ginzburg, and Dr. Gordon Oppenheimer in 1932. The three doctors published a paper describing the disease, which they called "regional ileitis." The disease was later called Crohn's disease because Dr. Crohn's name appeared first alphabetically on the paper.1
