Research Notes on What Is the Difference Between Psoriasis and Eczema
While psoriasis and eczema are similar, they are also different. Both conditions cause red itchy patches of skin, however psoriasis rashes are flaky while eczema often is not.1 Also, children are more likely to have eczema than psoriasis, whereas adults can have both.2

- Perfumes and cosmetics can cause eczema, while environmental irritants and genetics cause psoriasis.2
- It is most difficult to tell psoriasis and eczema apart when the feet or hands are affected.3

- In some severe cases, a physician may need to perform a skin biopsy to distinguish between psoriasis and eczema.3
