A pediatric rheumatologist is a pediatrician who specializes in treating children who suffer from rheumatic diseases. Pediatric rheumatologists typically spend two to three years training exclusively in pediatric rheumatology and are board certified. Conditions treated by pediatric rheumatologists include: juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, antiphospholipid syndrome, Sjogren's syndrome, sarcoidosis, Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, Raynaud's disease, and vasculitis.1
