Research Notes on Wellbutrin and Pregnancy
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has listed Wellbutrin as a Category C drug.1 In animal studies, pregnant animals were given low doses of Wellbutrin, and some adverse effects were reported.1 However, there have been no well-controlled studies in humans that have shown serious risk to the fetus.1 Wellbutrin should only be used in pregnancy if the benefits clearly outweigh the risks to the fetus.2
