Research Notes on Waterhouse-Friderichsen Syndrome
Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome is an extensive, often bilateral, bleeding into the adrenal glands. It is a complication of meningococcal infections and is the most severe form of meningococcal septicemia. Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome is also characterized by purpuric rash which is due to septicemia (blood poisoning due to bacterial infection).
