The normally clear, jelly-like fluid inside the eye is called the vitreous. Aneurysm or rupturing of blood vessels causes vitreous hemorrhage. Other causes may be trauma to the eye, tear in the retina, a retinal detachment, neo-vascularization (formation of new blood vessels) or an underlying medical condition.
