Research Notes on Vitamin C in Foods
Vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid and ascorbate. It helps the body absorb iron, the liver detoxify dangerous chemicals, and white blood cells fight infection. And also it is an antioxidant, thought to promote longevity. Citrus fruits are a good source of vitamin C and so other fruits and vegetables. Vitamin C is also added to many packaged fruit juices and snacks.
