Vitamin B-12 is an important vitamin that you usually get from your food. It is mainly found in meat and dairy products. Vitamin B-12 helps make red blood cells and keeps your nervous system working properly. It is also used as a treatment for those who have been diagnose with low iron or anemia

Fast Facts:

  • Symptoms of low iron include lack of energy, shortness of breath, headache, irritability, dizziness, or weight loss.
  • Vitamin B12 is special, because the body can store it for years in the liver. Because of this, a vitamin B12 deficiency is very rare.
  • Strict vegetarians and vegans are at greater risk of developing vitamin B12 deficiency than lacto-ovo vegetarians and nonvegetarians because natural food sources of vitamin B12 are limited to foods that come from animals.
