Research Notes on Vioxx Heart Risk Lingers Long After Use Ends
After a study showed Vioxx to increase the risk of strokes and heart attacks, it was pulled from the market. Now a follow-up study is revealing that the drug's effects last a year after stopping the treatment. Around 2,600 people were involved in this study and 79 percent of the patients a year later still had an increased risk of stroke and heart attack.
