Research Notes on Vincristine
Vincristine is a chemotherapy drug used to treat different types of cancer, such as, acute leukemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, Wilms Tumor, multiple myeloma, chronic leukemias, thyroid cancer, brain tumors. It is also used to treat some blood disorders. This medication can only be given by intravenous injection or infusion.1

- Brand name is Oncovin.
- Slows or stops the growth of cancer cells.
- Decreased blood cells is a common side effect.2
- Fatal if administered through the spinal canal.
- Can cause harm to fetus if administered during pregnancy.3
