Vinblastine is an antimitotic drug used to treat Hodgkin's lymphoma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast cancer and testicular cancer.1 Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea and headache.2 Any unusual bleeding, difficulty walking, fever or difficulty urinating should be reported right away.2

  • A plant alkaloid, vinblastine was first developed from the periwinkle plant.3
  • Immediately report any burning sensation during infusion as vinblastine will cause extensive tissue damage if leaked from the vein.4
  • Known interactions with erythromycin, intraconazole, mibefradil, and voriconazole.5
