Research Notes on Vegetarian Diet
A vegetarian diet excludes all meats, poultry and fish. If well planned, this way of eating can cover all nutritional needs and have many health benefits. Vegetarians do need to make sure that their diets are not too low in protein, iron, zinc, vitamin B-12, vitamin A, calcium and Omega 3.

- A generic term for a vegetarian diet is a "plant-based diet".
- Dietary supplements may need to be added to a vegetarian diet.
- A vegetarian diet generally contains less fat and cholesterol, and usually includes more fiber.
