Research Notes on Vegan Diet and Your Brain
There is a potential negative link between consuming a vegan diet and your brain. A study done by the Oxford University showed that vegetarians and vegans are six times more likely to suffer from brain shrinkage than people who consume meat. They believe this link is due to a deficiency of the vitamin B12.1
Fast Facts:
- Breastfed babies can suffer from a vitamin B12 deficiency if the mother consumes a vegan diet.2
- Brain shrinkage is linked to Alzheimer's disease.1
- It is possible that a vegetarian diet may be good for migraine sufferers.3
