Research Notes on Vanceril DS and Pregnancy
Vanceril DS (beclomethasone) should only be used during pregnancy when the benefits to the mother clearly outweigh any potential risks to the fetus. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has labeled Vanceril DS as a category C drug, meaning the effects of the medication have not been completely studied in pregnant women. According to animal studies, premature birth, low birth weight in newborns, and decreased fetal survival were reported.1

- Consult your physician before breastfeeding, as it is unknown whether Vanceril DS is excreted into breast milk.1
- Vanceril DS is a prescription medication used to prevent asthma attacks.2
- Vanceril DS is only approved for use in adults and children over the age of five.2
