Research Notes on Valium and Pregnancy
Valium is not recommended to be used during pregnancy. It has been given a pregnancy category D rating due to birth defects in animal and human studies.1 If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, tell your health care provider before using this medication.2
Fast Facts:
- Valium is to treat anxiety disorders, relax muscles and help with alcohol withdrawal as well as treat certain types of seizures.3
- Category D is given to drugs found to have shown clear evidence of fetal risk.1
- Valium can be addictive.3
