Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vaginal area.1 Common symptoms associated with vaginitis include vaginal itching, painful intercourse, changes in vaginal discharge and even some vaginal bleeding.1 Each type of vaginitis has other symptoms in addition to those listed above.

Fast Facts:

  • Yeast infections are one type of vaginitis. A white, thick vaginal discharge and itchy vaginal area may indicate a yeast infection.2
  • Bacterial vaginosis is a the most common type of vaginitis. It will cause a thin, milky discharge and a "fishy" odor.2
  • Trichomoniasis will present with a greenish yellow discharge and a frothy vaginal discharge.1
