Research Notes on Uva-Ursi
One of the most trusted of herbs in herbal medicine is uva ursi. It has a history of being used back to the second century as a diuretic.1 It has also shown to be effective in treating conditions such as urinary tract infections, diarrhea and E. coli.1 Uva ursi is sometimes called 'bearberry' because bears enjoy snacking on the berries of the shrub.2
Fast Facts:
- Also recommended for pelvic pain.3
- Should not be used with NSAID medications.4
- Not recommended for use by pregnant women, those with hypertension or breastfeeding mothers.4
