Research Notes on Alfuzosin
The American Cancer Society classifies prostate cancer as the most common form of cancer among U.S. men. Benign enlargement of the prostate is a problem that can occur in men as they get older. A way to prevent overall clinical progression of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) in men is to prescribe patients with the drug alfuzosin (known as brand names Uroxatral and Xatral). In addition, it can treat urinary incontinence which is a common problem with an enlarged prostate.

- Is a type of Alpha-blocker medicine.
- Was approved by the FDA for treatment of BPH in June 2003.
- Doctors recommend a daily dose of 10 mg.
- The tablets should not be chewed or crushed, but swallowed whole.
- The tablet should be taken immediately after the same meal each day.
