Research Notes on Urinary Incontinence Causes
There are several factors that can lead to urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence can be caused by certain medications, caffeine, consumption of alcohol, overhydration, and bladder irritation. Other causes of urinary incontinence include constipation and urinary tract infections.1

- Patients can also develop persistent urinary incontinence which can be caused by an underlying medical condition such as prostatitis, an enlarged prostate, or bladder stones.1
- Urinary incontinence is most commonly seen in women over the age of fifty.2
- Diabetes and obesity can also lead to urinary incontinence.2
