Doctors prescribe medications for those who have type 2 diabetes and have trouble getting their blood glucose levels within normal range. There are several classes of drugs that are used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes medications should be used as part of a regimen that includes exercise and a healthy diet.
