Research Notes on Turner Syndrome
Turner syndrome is the result of a female developing with only one X chromosome. Turner syndrome is not genetically inherited or preventable, and there is no cure. One of the major symptoms is short stature and slow growth. Growth hormone therapy can be used to limit these effects; however, women with TS will remain at the lower end of the growth chart.1

- Turner syndrome is sometimes called monosomy X, gonadal dysgenesis, or Bonnevie-Ullrich syndrome.2
- Turner syndrome occurs in about 1 out of every 2,000 births.2
- Estrogen therapy is often necessary in those diagnosed with Turner syndrome.2
