Transient insomnia is insomnia with symptoms that come and go.1 People with this condition may have difficulty falling asleep or maintaining sleep. Unexpected changes in life and stress are two of the most common causes of transient insomnia, but it may also be induced by jet lag.2 Generally, it resolves spontaneously in less than a week and does not require medical intervention.1
