Research Notes on Transformed Migraine
Transformed migraines often occur daily. The migraines are a combination of tension headaches and migraine attacks. The pain that is associated with transformed migraines often decreases in severity over time.1 Initially, transformed migraines are usually accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea or hyperacusis.1 These symptoms tend to occur less frequently and decrease in severity.1

- Appproximately 90% of people who have transformed migraines are women.1
- Risk factors for having transformed migraines include obesity, overuse of medications, and stress.2
- Approximately 80% of people with transformed migraines also have depression.2
