Research Notes on Transesophageal Echocardiography
Transesophageal echocardiography is a diagnostic test. An ultrasound device (transducer) is used in the esophagus to create a clear picture of parts of the heart. Transesophageal echocardiography can determine the size of the heart, its pumping strength, and the location and extent of any damage to its tissues.1
