Tomato Allergy


Tomato allergy is a type of food allergy.1 Symptoms include: swelling or itching around the mouth, hives, diarrhea, vomiting, and difficulting breathing among others.1 Many people with this particular allergy only have symptoms when encountering raw tomatoes.1

Fast Facts:

  • Some people with this allergy can eat processed tomato products such as tomato paste, or ketchup with no problems.1
  • People with this allergy may also be allergic to "profilins".2
  • This allergy is less common among adolescences and children who have food allergies.2
