Research Notes on Tofranil Dosage

As with all medications, the dosage of Tofranil will vary from person to person, based on many factors. When Tofranil is prescribed to treat adults suffering from depression, the initial dosage is 75 mg per day, taken either in one dose or several smaller doses throughout the day. The maximum recommended dosage of Tofranil for this indication is 300 mg daily. When used for treating bedwetting in children, the starting dosage is 25 mg taken at bedtime. This dosage may be adjusted to 50 mg for children 12 and under, and 75 mg for children older than 12. The Tofranil dosage for children should not exceed 1.1 mg per pound, per day.1
