Research Notes on Thyme
While routinely used in cooking, thyme is also a known medicinal herb. The oil found in the thyme is the main ingredient in Listerine® mouthwash.1 It has been used as an antiseptic, and has been shown to be effective in treating certain fungal infections.1 Thyme has been shown to have antioxidant properties as well.2

- Tea made from thyme can be used to treat coughs, bronchitis and emphysema.5
