Thrombocytosis and Paroxetine

Research Notes on Thrombocytosis and Paroxetine

Paroxetine is known to cause thromboythemia (increase in platelet levels in the blood). However, it may also cause thrombocytopenia which is a decrease in the blood platelet levels. This drug should not be taken with other blood thinners such as warfarin or aspirin as this may increase the risk of bleeding. This may manifest through blood in stools or bloody vomit.
