Research Notes on Food Guide Pyramid
The food guide pyramid was originally created at the Tufts University School of Medicine. In 2005, it was replaced by the new USDA advisory program called "MyPyramid." Whereas the old food guide pyramid was an outline of what to eat every day based on the dietary guidelines established by the USDA, the new version also stresses activity and moderation. The measurements are different with the new version; replacing "serving sizes" with "cups" and "ounces." The icon has also been replaced to include a person jogging up the stairs of the pyramid, representing the physical activity that should be incorporated with a good diet.
