Research Notes on Tetracycline for Acne
Acne, commonly known as pimples or zits, is a disease affecting the skin's oil glands. When the follicle of a gland is clogged with oil, skin cells, and bacteria, pimples or acne develops. Untreated, it can present a number of problems, including surface pain, infection, and scarring. Tetracycline is thought to control acne by curbing the growth of bacteria and reducing inflammation, thus resulting in fewer pimples and less redness.
