Research Notes on Telbivudine
Telbivudine is a medication that is used to treat chronic hepatitis B infection.1 It works by decreasing the amount of the virus in your blood, but it is not a cure.1 Serious side effects can occur with telbivudine use, including lactic acidosis--a build up of acid in the blood.1 Side effects that you should report right away include unusual fatigue, muscle pain, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark colored urine, trouble breathing, and rapid heart beat.1

- Common, non-serious side effects include cough, diarrhea, fever, headache, upset stomach, and trouble sleeping.2
