Teen Smoking

Research Notes on Teen Smoking

Teen smoking may start out of innocent curiosity, but it can become a habit that may be carried through into adulthood. Tobacco contains nicotine, a highly addictive substance that makes kicking the smoking habit difficult. Smoking is linked with a number of serious medical conditions such as stroke, cancer, emphysema and osteoporosis. Quitting smoking, or not starting at all, can significantly lower the risks of many kinds of diseases, promoting good health and physical fitness among teenagers.
