Research Notes on Tachycardia
Tachycardia is a heart rate that is faster than normal. This may happen in response to an illness, or when there is an abnormality in the conduction system of the heart.1 Symptoms of tachycardia may include shortness of breath, chest discomfort, dizziness, changes in vision, and fainting.2

- Sinus tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia are types of tachycardias.3
- Tachycardia occurs when the heart beats over one hundred beats per minute, instead of the normal sixty to one hundred beats a minute.2
- Some people do not experiencing any symptoms from tachycardia.2
