Research Notes on TUNA (Transurethral Needle Ablation) for the Prostate
Transurethral needle ablation of the prostate is a new alternative endoscopic thermal therapy that uses a low-energy radio frequency delivered into the excess tissue in the prostate. It is used to treat BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia).
Fast Facts:
- Also called radiofrequency therapy.
- The heat destroys the excess tissue, and relieves the symptoms of BPH.
- It can be done on an outpatient basis.
