Research Notes on Tendinopathy
Tendons are fibrous connective tissue which connects muscle to bones to produce tension and provide posture and movement.1 Teninopathy refers to tears and inflammation in a tendon. This may be accompanied by joint pain, joint stiffness, and weakness in the affected area.2
Fast Facts:
- Tendon injuries are commonly the result of wear and tear on the tendon from overuse or aging.2
- It is mostly observed to occur on the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle joints.3
- Patients are instructed to avoid activities which can aggravate tendinopathy to allow proper healing.4
