Research Notes on Swine Flu Symptoms
Swine flu (H1N1) symptoms are very similar to most other flu types. The most common symptoms associated with the swine flu include fever, coughing, lethargy, and appetite loss. Other symptoms that have been reported in patients suffering from swine flu are sore throat, nausea, runny nose, and diarrhea.1
Fast Facts:
- A respiratory specimen needs to be used to detect swine flu within the first four to five days of the virus.1
- For the April 2009 outbreak of the swine flu, physicians are recommending the use of oseltamivir (Tamiflu) or zanamivir (Relenza) as a treatment and prevention method against swine flu.1
- There is currently no vaccine to to protect humans against swine flu.1
