Sun poisoning is a nonscientific term, which refers to many sun-allergic reactions, classic examples being sunburn¹ and polymorphous light eruption.² Those who are sensitive to the sun can experience a reaction after being exposed to intense sun, typically in the spring or summer, and the rash usually appears as itchy, red spots, which develop up to a day after being exposed.²
