Research Notes on Sulfasalazine
Sulfasalazine is an anti-inflammatory sulfa drug used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis. This drug is not usually given to children under the age of two. It can cause mouth ulcers, upset stomach, and liver inflammation.
Fast Facts:
- Sulfasalazine is not a painkiller.
- Sold under the brand name of Azulfidine.
- Some research indicates sulfasalazine can reverse scarring from cirrhosis of the liver.
