Research Notes on Suicidal Behavior
Suicide normally results from the interaction of several different factors, most commonly depression, in a person's life. Completed suicide, attempted suicide, and suicide gestures are three different types of self destructive acts found in suicidal behavior. Suicide gestures should always be taken seriously and are more common among younger people.1 If you are concerned you may be seeing suicidal behavior in a person, you can take an OrganizedWisdom quiz to help determine if they are showing the warning signs.
Fast Facts:
- Suicide is eleventh leading cause of death in U.S.1
- Suicide is more likely among people widowed, separated, or divorced.1
- Guns are the most common method with men.1
