Research Notes on Sudden Hearing Loss
Sudden hearing loss is a rapid loss of hearing. It can happen to person all at once or over a period of up to 3 days. Sudden hearing loss should be considered a medical emergency. Many people notice it when they wake up in the morning. Others first notice it when they try to use the deafened ear. A person with sudden hearing loss may experience dizziness or a ringing in their ears or both.
