Research Notes on Stress Management
Stress is a normal part of life for most people. Some stress can be helpful, but too much stress can be dangerous. Stress can cause physical problems like headaches, insomnia, and upset stomach. The first step in stress management is identifying where the stress is coming from. Keeping a stress journal can help pinpoint the source of the stress and also help find better ways to react to it. Learning to better manage time, getting more sleep, and practicing meditation are just a few techniques that can help manage stress.1
Fast Facts:
- Exercise is effective in reducing both physical and emotional stress.2
- People who have strong support systems have fewer symptoms of stress.2
- Studies show that stress can make the symptoms of almost every medical condition worse.2
- Chronic stress can lower the immune system.2
